A shallow draft allows access to all the best anchorages, making MOONRAKER the quintessential yacht for the Bahamas. Sensational, contemporary deck areas provide endless lounging space, ensuring guests are spoiled for choice. The foredeck features an enormous forward-facing sun pad, a dining and seating area with two pop-up back-to-back televisions, and a jacuzzi flanked by Nikki Beach-style sun pads. Optional awnings provide shade for relaxed dining and a cool respite at the hottest time of day. Alternatively, guests might choose to hang out on the flybridge with its trendy modular seating and sun beds on three sides. Pull up a stool at the bar, or watch the chef grill fresh fish on the barbecue. In the main salon, over-sized windows and skylights in the high ceiling illuminate the unique glass wine cabinets that line the walls of the dining area. Guests can select from up to 100 bottles of fine wine, stored at optimum temperature in specially designed cabinets, while a humidor preserves a large selection of cigars. The salon is an impressive entertaining space equipped with bar, swivel stools and a pop-up liquor cabinet. Clever lighting and a state-of-the-art sound system help to create a vibrant party atmosphere at night, or can be toned down for a quiet, relaxed evening in. MOONRAKER provides spacious accommodation for up to nine guests in four comfortable, well-equipped cabins on the lower deck. A VIP double cabin with a walk-in wardrobe and steam shower, and two further double cabins (one with pullman) are cool, bright and comfortable, with en suite bathrooms. Captain Matt has worked steadily in the yachting industry for over 25 years, building the fine reputation he enjoys to this day.
Matt ran his previous command on the original M/Y MOONRAKER for 21 years before taking the position of Project Manager for the construction of the current 50m MOONRAKER, overseeing all aspects of design, engineering and construction throughout the build. There is not an inch of this yacht he does not know! Matt holds a 1600 USCG Master license with a 3000 International Tonnage Certificate; he takes great pride in his career and professionalism and continually upgrades his licensing and qualifications. Matt has cruised extensively in the Mediterranean, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the USA Eastern seaboard including New England. He is highly experienced running professional crews and charter yachts and his solid reputation and excellent rapport in the yachting industry is well earned.
A quietly spoken man with a very quick wit and terrific sense of humor, Matt will have guests laughing while he charms them with his good manners and kind nature! There is no better host than Matt; he listens well to understand fully what each guest is requesting and pulls out all the stops to make it happen. Matt sets a high standard for his crew which they happily follow. The crew respect him as well as like him and there is a positive, calm atmosphere onboard; the crew’s love for the work and the yacht is obvious. Captain Matt warmly welcomes all guests aboard and believes that every charter guest should be treated to a fantastic and memorable experience, and leave only wanting to return!

Chief Stewardess – Rachel Kidd (American)

Born and raised in South Florida guaranteed Rachel would naturally acquire her great love for the ocean. Rachel’s family inspired this love by passing on their enthusiasm for sailing which is now her favorite past time. Growing up she was an avid softball player and was granted a scholarship to play in college. While attending school, Rachel developed her excellent service industry skills by working in restaurants and then fine-tuned them when serving at a plush country club.
Shortly after graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and a minor in Marketing, Rachel joined the first M/Y MOONRAKER and has been with the owner and crew ever since. Her infectious enthusiasm and caring dedication is perfectly complimented by her lovely smile and sweet nature. Rachel’s interior team work beautifully as one and their focus is to make each guest feel pampered as never before! Rachel is excited and thrilled to share the new, beautiful MOONRAKER with guests and hopes that the time onboard awakens their spirits and brings life long memories!

Chef – Michael Berryhill (American)

Born in Massachusetts and raised in Minnesota, Mike found a passion for cooking at a young age. During high school he started to work in a restaurant as a dishwasher, and by his junior year he was working on the line as a cook. From there he was well and truly hooked! Mike thrived in the fast paced culinary environment and loved learning how food was transformed into incredible dishes. He saw this as a beautiful art and uses ingredients as his “canvas to paint”! After high school, Mike served a 2 year culinary apprenticeship at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and from there he catapulted to the sought after position of Chef at the legendary Capital Grille in Boston, San Francisco and Dallas. Mike added Executive Sous Chef for Skates on the Bay in Berkley, CA to his impressive resume and when looking for a new adventure in 2000, he entered the yachting industry. Mike has travelled extensively on the charter circuit; Vegan, French, Italian and Mediterranean are just a few of his specialties. He is well versed in everything from Family Style to incredible 7 Course Tasting Menus and no chef is better at the grill with steak and seafood than Mike. You have not lived until Mike prepares you a delicious fresh Island Conch Salad on the beach! Baking...oh yes...that too! Children are welcomed in the galley for a cookie baking session! Mike truly appreciates the privilege of catering to the owner and discerning guests. He calls Fort Lauderdale his home with his wife Esneda and together they enjoy the amazing beaches in South Florida. Mike delights in creating exciting, healthy and delicious meals throughout the guests stay on board, knowing this is an essential ingredient to enjoying their trip!

Stewardess – Willow Tambakis (Canadian)

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Willow grew up by the water in a very close knit family. Friends describe her as a constantly smiling bundle of energy. Before graduating with a degree in Business Administration, she worked as a waitress and started to develop her hospitality and service skills by working in up-scale supper clubs in the city. Willow was excited to travel beyond the borders of her homeland and expand her horizons. After graduation she traveled to Greece, Florence, Dubai, Paris and even lived in South Africa for 10 weeks. After gaining valuable experience and learning about other cultures, Willow set her sights on the yachting industry with her usual courage and determination. Willow was offered a position as stewardess and has worked diligently to grow personally and professionally. Her incredible work ethic, team spirit, and engaging personality are great assets to MOONRAKER. Her focus is always the guest and always impeccable service which is complimented by her enthusiastic approach to life! She is diligently teaching herself how to speak Spanish and on her time off she is working toward her dive master certificate, or practicing yoga.

Stewardess – Isabelle “Izzie” Chen (Canadian)

Izzie was born in Taiwan and grew up in Toronto, Canada. Although she loved her childhood home, Izzie knew that one day she would be travelling the world. Her independent spirit and courageous nature has taken her to many parts of the globe including Nicaragua, South Africa, and Italy where she lived for 6 months. Izzie studied Fashion Design and Business at George Brown College in Toronto and her creative flair is well utilized in the interior on board MOONRAKER. This intelligent young lady (whose Uncle works for NASA) has a gift for anticipating guests needs and her natural athleticism and abounding energy is loved by active charter guests! Izzie’s work experience includes freelance stewardess on charters in the Bahamas and Florida Keys and waitressing in Sardinia, Italy at the high end VIP Room. Izzie is an only child and the person she admires and respects most in this world is her Mother. When not on board the yacht, she continues to explore and eating great food is a big part of that!

Nicholas Orr -Chief Engineer (New Zealander)

Nicholas Orr was born in New Zealand and was raised around the ocean in Newport Beach, California. His mechanical background has gone full circle! Nicholas started in the marine industry at a small shipyard in Newport Beach, California and after completing his apprenticeship he became a master Jaguar technician. Looking for a change of pace, Nicholas progressed to teaching Automotive Engineering at a Polytechnic in New Zealand and after four years, he went on sabbatical. It was during this time Nicholas discovered yachting and never went back to teaching - he had found his home on the water! Charming and approachable, he is happy to talk engineering or yachting with any guests! Nicholas loves to spend his free time at his home in Washington state with a wrench in one hand messing about in his workshop.

First Mate – Bernardo Varela (Argentina)

Bernardo was born in Mar del Plata, a big port city on the Atlantic coast of Argentina where he developed his passion for ocean traveling as he watched ships come and go from around the world. When he was 17, Bernado conquered his first trip to the Andes Mountains of Argentina and after that he started a series of land voyages throughout South America; including Chile, Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador. Several years later his father moved to St. Martin in the Caribbean where one of Bernado’s brothers worked on a yacht, which inspired Bernardo to follow a new path and join the yachting industry himself.
In 2008, Bernardo started his career in this amazing profession and has dedicated his time to learning and growing. His path up has been well timed and well earned. Bernado started on MOONRAKER as Bosun and he has welcomed the challenge of his position as First Mate.
Bernado is a stable member of the team onboard, very well liked and with a pleasant outlook on life. His positive attitude and quiet dedication make him the perfect crew member! The biggest goal of this well mannered gentleman on charter is ensuring that guests of all ages enjoy their time immensely and don’t want to leave!

Bosun – Wesley Lesar (South Africa)

Wesley was born in the beautiful city of Durban, South Africa, although he spent most of his childhood in Mallorca in The Balearics. He picked up sailing as a weekly hobby that he attended with his Grandfather who owned his own sailing yachts.
Wesley’s growing love for the ocean was nurtured by his Grandfather who has traveled the world on more than one occasion and who was in the British Merchant Navy for some years. Wesley finished the remainder of his education in Cambridge, including 2 years of college and at the age of 20 he joined the British Army, serving 30 months as a Queens Royal Horse guard and then a further 2 years in the Household Cavalry Armored Regiment. Once his military service was completed and after a tour of duty in Afghanistan, Wesley once again followed the sun and moved to the beautiful Caribbean island of Grand Cayman. This enabled him to be close to the ocean water he loves and it is where he started his new career in yachting. Wesley joined MOONRAKER as a deck hand, but it was soon obvious that his ability and life experience had prepared him well for any task at hand. Wesley’s friendliness and strong work ethic is appreciated and his charismatic enthusiasm for life onboard charms guests of all ages!

Deckhand – Jared Carpenter (American)

Interests: American football (NY Giants fan), fishing everywhere and anything to do with the water, surfing, travel
Growing up on the coast in Southampton, NY, Jared’s love for the ocean was developed early on, spending all his free time surfing, fishing, swimming and boating. After graduating from James Madison University with a B.A. in Political Science, Jared followed his heart’s love for the ocean and began his career in the yachting industry on MOONRAKER. When he isn’t by the ocean (which is rare) Jared enjoys maintaining his active lifestyle through hiking, rock-climbing and Crossfit. He has spent a considerable amount of time participating in and leading volunteer service trips in the Mojave Desert, where he aided various environmental projects and in Nicaragua where he taught English and built homes for native families. Jared’s kind and generous nature as well as positive outlook makes him a perfect fit for the enthusiastic MOONRAKER team. He has quickly become a valued member of this welcoming family and is loving life on board !
