Crew profile Catana

Crew members:
Steven Dewhurst (UK)
Eleanor Young
Crew profile:
Captain: Steve Dewhurst
Chef/Mate: Eleanor Young

Captain Steve was managing electrical projects in London when the sailing bug bit him. He left the corporate world and started crewing on long distance yacht deliveries. Having decided that sailing ocean-going yachts was his profession, he went on to get several professional certifications including the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Yacht Master Ocean certification in 2003. This is the most rigorous certification the RYA offers and it qualifies Captain Steve to skipper a yacht on passages of any length in all parts of the world.

Captain Steve has skippered private VIP charters in vessels up to 110 feet, acted as fleet commander for holiday flotillas and has trained numerous yacht owners in the handling of their vessels. Having established an industry wide reputation he has become one of the most sought after captains for delivering large catamarans to destinations around the world. It was in this capacity that Captain Steve became the skipper of Blue Moon in February of 2014. He has been the full time skipper of Blue Moon ever since and has lovingly overseen a refit of the vessel, upgrading all of her equipment and amenities in “Bristol Fashion”.

Eleanor (Ellie) studied in the Hotel and Catering industry, excelling in the culinary arts. At Waltham Forest College in London she received the “chef of the year” award for her culinary excellence. Ellie worked in a variety of catering establishments over the years before meeting Captain Steve, who lured her out to sea. Their adventures in sailing began by leading flotilla holidays in the Ionian and Aegean Seas in Greece. They have since delivered dozens of boats of all shapes and sizes to destinations around the world. With over 120,000 miles at sea Eleanor is an experienced open ocean sailor with a fun and enthusiastic personality (she’s always smiling) who loves pampering guests with her delicious cuisine!
