In general: The Saronic golf is in the South-West of Athens and especially in July and August predestined for soft sailing. The islands Ägina, Poros, Angistri, Hygra, Doros, Spetses and the Peleponnes coast show up an interesting route and should be recommended. Inherent natural beauty with virgin places and phantasmoric beaches are waiting for you. Small harbours and quiet anchorages guarantee your perfect enjoyment during your sailing holidays.
Wind and Weather:The north wind, which is called Meltemi is not very constant and comes up from wind direction north to north-east with wind forces 3 to 5. Near the peninsulas Methana and Poros as well as the east coast of Peleponnes, Meltemi blows a bit more quiet and more from north east and south east. If the Meltemi is missing, south winds about 2 to 3 arise. The gulf of Hydra and Argolis speeds the wind to 3-5 Bft. During the night the winds usually slow down. In the early- and postseason in spring and in autumn, rather the whole region gets little windy directed from south.

In general: Compared to other areas in Greece, this sailing area can be recommended for pretentious sailors. Blue and white are the predominating colours of the isles of light. Nowhere else the sun shines brighter and the houses glow whiter. The archipelago Cyclades consists of 41 islands, which are located close together in the middle of the Agais. Each island is individually unique. Everybody who ever comes to Greece should visit the Cyclades, because these islands are very typical for Greece and besides, they have a great historic importance. Long time ago they have been a global well-known centre of trade, policy and religion. The islands reside circular around Delos and the name is derived from this grouping ( kyklos is Greek and means : circle). As usually only seen on postcards, here you can find lime white houses and wind mills, taverns with excellent Greek cuisine and entirely sunny beaches. Right next to the more romantic and silent-charmed islands like Kea, Sikinos, Kithnos, Serifos, Milos, Amorgos or Andros, you can enjoy the agile nightlife in Paros, Naxos and Ios. In addition to that, there are quite many small islands like Donousa, Skinoussa, Iraklia and Koufonissia, where you can explore virgin villages or undiscovered anchorage grounds.
Wind and Weather:Like in the Saronic Golf, the well-known Meltemi blows here as well. Beginning in June, the wind blows coming of north, in July and August the wind blows very strong, up to 7 Bft. and since middle of September only slightly. The north of the Cyclades is determined by north-east winds, the centre by north winds and the south by north-west winds. In south-west the Meltemi blows more slightly, in spring time and in autumn you hit south winds.

In general: The sailing paradise of the Dodecanese is composed of more than 163 unique islands and islets, located directly in front of the Turkish Coastline in the east of the Cyclades. They afford an inexhaustible capability for all sailors. Sailing along the Turkish coastline through water clear like crystal, you will pass some of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterranean and you will discover all islands of the Dodecanese as well. Because of the multitude of islands, the ocean routes can be arranged very manifold. Whichever route you'll take, you can be sure not to be disappointed. Holidays here are worth while on its own, because of plenty of nice beaches and bays. You shouldn’t pass up a golden opportunity to visit the harbours of Simi and Kalymnos, the country of sponge diver.
Wind and Weather:
The wind direction and wind force here is dominated by Meltemi, too. From May till October the wind comes up from north-west direction with 4 to 6 wind forces. With 2 to 4 wind forces from south-east, it is in spring and autumn well below. The whole year round it is pretty warm in the Dodecanese.

In general: This northern part of Greece can be recommended especially for wallowers, who like to have a swim in wonderful Mediterranean water at untouched lee anchorages, to watch the sunset in the evening or discover the amble sub aqueous world. The beauty of the islands, woods, beaches, villages, churches and fortresses in combination with the smell of pinewoods, dark blue water and phantasmagorical beaches will take you into another time. The islands between Syrkos and the Greek mainland are preserved from the mass tourism by Natural parks, nature protection areas and environmental thinking.
Wind and Weather:Although the Meltemi blows the whole year round, you have very good conditions for light sailing, because the wind is not as strong as in other regions of Greece. The wind comes from north-east to south-east, especially in summer with wind forces from 2 to 4. In July and August you get wind of south-west direction with sometimes 4 to 6 wind forces and at the end of September the wind is often totally abating.

In general: In the course of history, the pictorial Ionic Islands located on the west coast of the Greek mainland were already conquered by Venetian, the Frenchmen and the Englishmen. Influenced by many cultures and people, a harmonic culture got formed (which is unmistakable Greece), which differs a lot from the rest of Greece. You find lush vegetation on these islands, which is a contrast to the Greek mainland, and an extensive cultivation of olives profits, too. Many harbours and bays, lee water bodies and a multiplicity of islands make the sailing trip absolutely commendable. The beaches of these areas belong to the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean. Lefkas is separated from the mainland only through a straight. If you are lucky, you may even discover some dolphins round this mountainous green island.
Wind and Weather:Due to optimal wind and sailing conditions, especially in July and August this area is very advisable for sailing beginners and families with children. During this time the winds in this region blows less intensive than in other regions of Greece. From May till September there is only a light east wind in the morning, the wind starts to blow out of north-west in the afternoon and reaches different wind forces from 2 up to 5 Bft. In July and August it’s possible that it is a bit stronger. During sunset it stops again. In spring and autumn the wind gets out of south-west direction and are most of the time very light.
