The IJsselmeer is a shallow lake of 1250 km² in the central Netherlands with an average depth of 5 to 6 m. The IJsselmeer was created in 1932 when an inland sea, the Zuiderzee, was closed by a 32 km dam. The Ijsselmeer is famous for the many traditional sailing boats you will find there.
Big fleets of traditional sailing boats offer „De Zeilvaart" in Enkhuizen and „Hollands Glorie" in Rotterdam.
